Colin Forsyth

Dr. Colin Forsyth is a researcher in the Space Plasma Group at UCL’s Mullard Space Science Laboratory studying the physics that governs the space environment in the solar system.

Colin’s research considers the interaction of the Sun with the planets in the solar system through magnetic field and charged particle physics. In particular, he is interested in the currents of these systems. He is also interested in the similarities between phenomena seen in near-Earth space and at other planets or on the Sun. A list of his published work and presentations can be found under the Publications link.

Colin also enjoys discussing his research with public and inspiring the next generation to enjoy the sciences and is actively involved with the MSSL outreach program as well as volunteering for the Institute of Physics “Physics in the Field”.

Colin is a member of the MIST Council, the body which represents the space physics community in the UK. Colin is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
