Kiruna 1970


Kiruna, within the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland, became the new launch site for ESRO (ESRANGE, European Sounding rocket RANGE) and it was so cold that a special enclosed Skylark launch tower was erected. The main hazards here (February 1970) were snow, ice and reindeer, large reindeer !!!
