IAU Commission 10: Solar Activity
Commission 10 (Solar Activity) is one of three commissions in
Division E
(Sun and Heliosphere) of the IAU, the other two being Commissions
12 (Solar Radiation and Structure) and 49 (Interplanetary Plasma
and Heliosphere). The objective of the IAU is to "promote the
science of astronomy in all its aspects," and the role of the
commissions is to "organize the work of the Union in specialized
subsets of the fields of their parent Division."
Commission 10 aims to facilitate progress in understanding all
aspects of solar activity, ranging from plasma heating to explosive
eruptions, and in particular to coordinate international efforts in
this regard. We welcome all individuals interested in pursuing our
goals.
