Cluster PEACE Science Data Acqusitions During Commissioning in 2000

Andrew Fazakerley, January 25, 2001

The list below gives an indication of when PEACE instruments ran for extended intervals on the Solid State Recorder. During most of these times, science-type operations were rehearsed, using the agreed standard science mode, although in some cases other sensor setups or data product choices were made. The accuracy of the quoted times is not guaranteed.

Usually there is an hour or so of BM1 for the near apogee intervals and the rest is NM1.

Spacecraft 1

SSR Orbit 1                     28 Nov (09:44 - 13:44 magnetopause)
                                29 Nov (08:40 - 12:40 polar regions)
SSR Orbit 2                     30 Nov (14:19 - 22:19 magnetopause)
SSR Orbit 3                     03 Dec (00:30 -04:30 magnetopause)
                                04 Dec (06:33-10:33 magnetopause)

Bowshock Skimming Orbit (4 sc)  22 Dec (crosses day boundary)

Spacecraft 2

SSR Orbit 1                     12 Nov (02:14 - 06:14
                                       magnetopause/plasmasheet?)
                                13 Nov (01:46 - 05:46, polar region)
SSR Orbit 2                     14 Nov (16:45 - 20:45
                                       magnetopause/plasmasheet?)
                                15 Nov (10:50 - 14:50, polar
                                       region NICE)
SSR Orbit 3                     16 Nov (20:23 - 00:24
                                       magnetopause/plasmasheet?)
                                17 Nov (19:57 - 23:57, polar region)

Bowshock Skimming Orbit (4 sc)  22 Dec (crosses day boundary)

Spacecraft 3

SSR Orbit 1                     11 Sep (04:31 - 12:31 NM only
                                       plasmasheet)
                                12 Sep (04:22 - 08:22 polar region)
SSR Orbit 2                     13 Sep (12:38 - 17:38 plasmasheet)
                                14 Sep (13:32 - 17:32 polar region)
SSR Orbit 3                     23 Sep, 24 Sep (for times see SC4)

JSOC Orbit (with SC3)           30 Sep, 01 Oct (for times see SC3)

Bowshock Skimming Orbit (4 sc)  22 Dec (crosses day boundary)

Spacecraft 4

SSR Orbit 1 (SC 3 does same)    23 Sep (04:40 to 08:35 plasmasheet)
                                24 Sep (01:59 to 05:54 polar regions)
SSR Orbit 2                     25 Sep (09:18 - 13:18 plasmasheet)
                                26 Sep (11:06 - 15:06 polar region)
SSR Orbit 3                     27 Sep (23:44 - 03:45 plasmasheet)
                                28 Sep (20:14 - 00:15 polar region)

JSOC Orbit (with SC 3)          30 Sep (02:30 to 07:30 plasmasheet)
                                01 Oct (11:50 to 14:50 polar regions)

Correlator Commissioning        05 Dec (this was probably too brief
                                       to be useful)

Bowshock Skimming Orbit (4 sc)  22 Dec (approx 06:00 to 02:00 next day)
