€X-rays are emitted in region at the inner edge of
the disk, called the boundary layer
€Can be explored through eclipse studies in the
X-rays and UV/optical
€Non-magnetic CVs are relatively faint in X-rays so
only recently have observations achieved sufficient count rates to resolve the emission
region
€Eclipses are sharp, indicating that the emission
is from a region only the width of the white dwarf, and not extended into the disk
€Some indication that emission is from the polar
regions: weak magnetic fields or obscuration
