Dust nova winds

Abstract:

The formation of dust in the material ejected in nova explosions was first
mooted in 1934 but was only confirmed with the advent of infrared
observations several decades later. We now know that a range of
mineralogical types of dust forms in nova ejecta. I will describe dust
formation in nova winds, the peculiar nature of the dust and what it might
tell us about other dust formation in other astrophysical environments.
