I show how population synthesis analysis can be used to analyze the content of survey fields. A recent investigation of  the Kepler Input Catalog highlights a bias in the stellar parameters derived by Kepler's Stellar Classification Project. This impacts on parameters of Kepler planets. I also discuss the potential in the Kepler sample of eclipsing binaries and the significance of the false positives.
