Prior to 2005, Gamma Ray Burst after-glows appeared to be relatively well behaved as regards their agreement with theory. The Swift satellite, launched in November 2004, revealed complexity and structure to the after-glows which was both unexpected, and unexplained by the standard Fireball model. In this talk I will recap the history of GRBs and their after-glows pre-Swift, show how the Swift X-ray observations challenges the Fireball model and introduce some work we are undertaking to try to reconcile the consensus model with Swift data.
