Gamma-Ray Burst Journal ClubSince January 2004 the MSSL Astrophysics group holds weekly informal meetings, which main goal is learning or updating the knowledge of the group about those mysterious astronomical events called Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). During these meetings students and staff give short presentations by reviewing one or more articles related to research on GRBs, or discussing a particular aspect of GRBs science. The purpose of these talks is to familiarise members of the group with recent important results, and form an important component of student training through the development of presentation skills. The current schedules are given below, and meetings are held either in the library or Ariel House at 11am on Wednesdays, unless otherwise specified by the "speaker of the week".
Note for SpeakersPlease make sure you send an e-mail with a remind both on the day before and 10' before the meeting. Also, please circulate the title as soon as possible. Please, if you are unable to do the GRB-JC on the scheduled day, then make sure you organize a change with another person and e-mail the group accordingly. We currently have a block booking of rooms: 7th July 11am-12.30 am - Library21th July - 15th Dec inclusive - 11.00 - 12.30 in Ariel House.
