GIS studies

Many GIS studies have been established to conduct observations for science and engineering purposes. Unlike NIS, the full wavelength range of each detector for GIS is telemetered down so studies vary in the slit used, area observed and exposure times.

The table below gives some brief information on some existing GIS studies (the list is not exhaustive!). For further information on the dates that studies have been run the xcat routine can be used (at instutions which hold the CDS database). For information on how to get GIS data please visit this link.

Please note that each study may have several variations (eg. different exposure times) and that the pointings are selected by the CDS planner as requested by the scientist. To find out detailed information on a study please use the routine xstudy.

IDL> xstudy

Note: In the table below 'raster area' is width x height

If you would like to run a study or design a new study please contact the CDS project scientist or Principle Investigator.
