Identification of faint hard spectrum ROSAT sources - solving the X-ray background paradox
J.P.D.Mittaz, M.J.Page & F.J.Carrera

The X-ray spectral paradox, whereby all the sources in current X-ray surveys are softer than the observed background emission, implies an as yet undiscovered population of hard spectrum sources. We have scoured over 200 ROSAT PSPC pointed observations for sources that are significantly harder than the background and have a sample of about a hundred candidates. The results of preliminary imaging and spectroscopy are just in and reported here for the first time!
