Guide for the Use of the International System of Units
This next document gives an excellent description of what to write and what not to write.
Remember to
- use a half-space (or space) instead of a comma as a thousands separator as in
10 000 000 people
- use the
proper unit abbreviations and don't make up your own (like "sec" when you
should use "s")
- don't use plurals in units (it it wrong, overcomplicated and can be confused with seconds) so cm means centimetre and cms means centimetre seconds
- don't mix units and other
things like "counts/sec" when you should write
the count rate is 10 s-1
