 Proceedings

IMPORTANT:  WE ARE LEAVING THE UPLOAD WEBPAGE OPEN FOR 1-2 WEEKS AFTER THE      DEADLINE,    SINCE
A FEW OF YOU ARE LATE. PLEASE, SUBMIT YOUR CONTRIBUTION ASAP OR INFORM US IF YOU
           PREFERE NOT TO WRITE ONE

    1) GENERAL INFORMATIONS:

Proceedings of the meeting will be published as a special issue of the Astrophysics and Space Science journal (ApSS; Springer), and then in an hardcover spin-off book.  The book will follow the special issue publication in a couple of weeks time. The book will be sent to all participants and the contributors to the book will also receive 25 offprints of their respective article.

Moreover, the articles will be included in the new ApSS Online First programme. This has been introduced a few months ago and it means that as soon as the manuscript has been submitted and the proofs have been corrected Springer will place the final articles online. They are then fully citable by their DOI and the advantage for the contributors is that they do not have to wait for publication when other contributors are delayed with delivering their corrections.

When the special issue is ready this will also be published completely online.

Both, book and journal will be published in a large format (A4) with double column layout, which hopefully will give plenty of space to your paper.  Also,  from 2006 Springer will publish color figures free of charge if color adds significantly to the image, figure or photograph. This will make the special issue even more attractive and we believe  the contributors will appreciate this new feature as well.

In order to improve the quality of the book, Springer asks for an internal reviewing round that will be done by re-distributing papers among senior participants or members of the soc.  Eventually, delayed papers or papers that need more corrections could be submitted as regular papers for publication in a later journal issue. These papers will be subject to regular reviewing, then.

Both the Authors and the Editor(s) will receive a proof of the paper for the corrections. When the author is late in returning corrections, Springer will use the Editor's corrections instead (please don't do that !)

The editors of the Proceedings will be  Dany Page, Roberto Turolla and Silvia Zane

    2) PAGE LIMIT:

    There is a limit of

    - 5 double side pages for 30' Talks (or 10 one side pages)

    - 4 double side pages for 20' Talks (or 8 one side pages)

    - 2 double side pages for Posters (or 4 one side pages)

    3) MACROS:

Macros are available from this link:   MACRO

For Astrophysics and Space Science, please choose the format [twocolumn], i.e.  in the template.tex file change the two lines "documentclass" and "journalname" into:

    \documentclass[twocolumn,runningheads]{svjour2}
    \journalname{Astrophysics and Space Science}

Moreover,  if you want to use natbib for your references (very useful!) the first line should be:

    \documentclass[twocolumn,runningheads,natbib]{svjour2}

    4) SUBMITTING YOUR CONTRIBUTION:

You can upload your contribution(s) using the
    webpage :

        http://www.pd.infn.it/astro/london2006/upload.html

The access is password restricted. After selecting the file

to be uploaded you'll be prompted for both an username and a
    password. Please use the following

     username: contributor
     password: NS2006

    *** IMPORTANT ***

In order to speed up the editorial/publishing procedure we ask
contributors to submit now the complete version of their manuscript,
not just the ps or pdf file as originally announced.

Please note that only a single tarred, gzipped file (.tar.gz)
should be transmitted. It must include:
     1. the latex source, complying with the publisher's macro
     2. all the figures, in high-resolution (> 300 dpi) ps, eps or tiff
        formats
     3. the complete ps or pdf file of the contribution
     4. the manuscript submittal form (see below)

Please name your file with your surname (i.e. authorname.tar.gz).
Partecipants with more than one contribution should name their
files as authorname_1.tar.gz, authorname_2.tar.gz, etc. and repeat the
    upload procedure.

    5) REVIEW PROCESS:

As announced, all contributions are reviewed by members of the SOC or
senior partecipants. The Author will then receive a referee report and
eventually will be asked to resubmit a revised version, by taking into
full account for the required changes. The Editors will contact the
    Authors should any problems arise.

    6) WE NEED ALSO SOME OTHER FORMS:

We also require that each of you fill  two forms : a "Consent to publish" form  and a "Manuscript Transmittal " form. Both are downloadable from the following links:  Manuscript  and  Consent  and both should be sent to us when you submit  your paper.

In case you are using figures from other publisher/sources, please fill and send us also a third form downloadable here:  Request.

NOTE: please send the  "Consent" and, eventually, the "Request" forms, both signed, by fax  to Roberto
Turolla at the Padova's University . THESE MUST BE SIGNED. The fax number is: ++39-049-8277112

NOTE: please send us the "Manuscript" form together with the .tar archive. This form is not going to
be signed.  When filling this form, leave blank: manuscript number, received/revised/accepted dates,
and the last two sections which deal with "manuscript comprises" and with the details of the
Guest editor. Those entries are for office use.
