OM will be switched off during eclipse. The MCP HV requires a stabilization
period of several hours. For the sake of observation efficiency it is desirable
to switch on OM and command it into intermediate safe state before perigee
passage for the case that eclipse occurs before perigee and that there is s/c
contact before perigee. This approach would require different post eclipse
procedures depending on the orbital phase eclipse occurs, treating the case
where there is a s/c contact after eclipse and before perigee differently to
all other cases. In the latter cases the full procedure would be invoked after
perigee, otherwise only the transition to intermediate safe mode is commanded
and normal activation after perigee will occur.
- 1.
- Perform ``Nominal Switch On'' (see Section 8.1).
The ICU is in ``initial mode''.
- 2.
- Wait until ready for ``Post Perigee Procedure''.
- 3.
- Perform ``Post Perigee Procedure'' (see Section 8.10).
The ICU is in ``idle'' mode.
Kate will investigate the possibililty of different OM operation for eclipse
with s/c contact before perigee.
