Linux

This section contains information specific to the Linux version of the RealPlayer 5.0.

8-bit Audio

The RealPlayer 5.0 generates 16-bit audio data. If you have an 8-bit audio card or you have disabled 16-bit DMA for some reason, you will most likely have to set the RealPlayer to generate 8-bit audio data. Click on the View menu and select the Preferences menu item. A dialog box is displayed. Select the Advanced tab and check the Disable 16-bit sound checkbox. Finally, click the OK button and your preferences are saved in a preference file. You do not need to do this each time you execute the RealPlayer.

8-bit Video in Netscape Plugin

The plugin does not render video if the system is in 8-bit video mode. This standalone RealPlayer however, does render video in 8-bit video mode. ~ ~ ~
