This section contains information specific to the Linux version of
the RealPlayer 5.0.
8-bit Audio
The RealPlayer 5.0 generates 16-bit audio data.
If you have an 8-bit audio card or you have disabled 16-bit DMA
for some reason, you will most likely have to set the RealPlayer to
generate 8-bit audio data. Click on the View menu and select the
Preferences menu item. A dialog box is displayed. Select the
Advanced tab and check the Disable 16-bit sound checkbox.
Finally, click the OK button and your preferences are saved in
a preference file. You do not need to do this each time you execute
the RealPlayer.
8-bit Video in Netscape Plugin
The plugin does not render video if the system is in 8-bit video mode.
This standalone RealPlayer however, does render video in 8-bit video mode.
