We will consider an example of incoherent emission, that of radiating particles in thermodynamical equilibrium, ie thermal emission. We know that blackbody radiation gives the maximum emissivity. So can pulsar emission be thermal?

We will consider the radio emission from pulsars (1e8Hz; 100MHz; 3m) and use the Rayleigh-Jeans approximation on the long-wavelength side of the peak.
