EIS Master Study Database

Importing a new science study to the study database

This procedure describes the steps to import a new science study into either the master study database or the test (pm) database. Multiple studies can be imported one after the after by repeating step 11 for each study.

This procedure assumes that solarsoft (ssw) is already running in the xterm terminal.

Testing the studies can be done individually by repeating steps 13 through 21 for each study (and, as the ICU is already on, steps 22 and 23 should be omitted). Alternatively, the studies can be put on the same timeline and tested sequentially by inserting the first study on the timeline in step 14 and then repeating 13 and appending the study to the previous study in step 14.

Procedure

  1. Run the make study program.
    In the xterm type:
  2. This window pops up:

    ../images/study/science/import/pm_mk_study_1.png

  3. Import study (the .def file).
Select the 'Import study...' menu item from the 'Study' menu.

    ../images/study/science/import/pm_mkstudy_3_3.png

If the study defines a new raster and/or a new linelist then these will be automatically created.

Picture here to show values. Can change these prior to testing to save time if long rasters.

If the study runs for a long time then the study and/or the raster(s) it contains can be edited to bring the testing time to a reasonable length. As the pm database is selected this will only affect the studies in the test database. None of the changes will be reflected in the studies/rasters when they are inserted into the master database.

    Typically:

Follow these steps to edit the raster(s).
