Testing a new science study on the flight spare (pm)

This procedure describes the steps to import new studies into the test (pm) database.

Testing the studies can be done individually by repeating steps 5 and 6 for each study and, once the ICU is on, step 2 of step 9.
Alternatively, the studies can all be imported into the pm database (step 5) and then all put on the same timeline.

Procedure

  1. Open an xterm by single clicking on the icon (circled in red) in the menu bar:

    This will put you in the home directory of the user solarb.

  2. Backup the pm (test) study database.
    In the xterm type:

    This command backs up both the test (pm) database and the master database and moves the backups to a backup directory so if anything goes wrong the original state can be restored.

  3. Start Solarsoft
    In the xterm type:


  4. Select the pm (test) database
    In the xterm type:


  5. Import the study into the pm (test) database.

  6. Create a plan on the timeline to test the study/studies on the flight spare.

  7. If the ICU is currently not running then turn the ICU on. Otherwise proceed to the next step.

  8. If the EGSE software is currently not running then Start the EGSE software. Otherwise skip to the next step

  9. Run the EGSE software and run the plan

  10. After testing the studies:

If the plan ran ok then the next step is to import the study into the master database.
